What Inspired the First Believers?
As Muslim organizers and creatives, we've always asked ourselves: what is it that caused the earliest generation of Islam to have the amazing impact that they did and is there a way for us to do something similar?
A Divine Connection.
Reflecting on their lives, we realized a major reason for their success was their powerful experience of faith—seeing firsthand the revelation of God's words and its embodiment in the life of the Prophet* himself.
To Rekindle Their Experience.
Being creatives and organizers, we wanted to inspire the next generation of the faithful by using thoughtful design to recapture some of the energy of our predecessors and enhance the modern Muslim experience.
Combining Creativity and Faith.
With this in mind, we began looking at where we as a community could use a little bit of creative help to better connect with our faith and fulfill our potential. Many mind maps and detailed lists followed.
Divine Help Arrives.
With so many ideas, we honestly didn't know where to start. Then, in 2020, we found out about a publishing company that was using photography to present their faith's scripture. We knew we could do the same.
It All Comes Together.
We presented the idea of a photographic Quran translation to our teachers, Sheikhs Yaser Birjas and Mohammad Elshinawy who were both immediately on board. The team from The Clear Quran® fell in love with the project and doors just kept opening up for us. It really wasn't our doing.
The Birth of Uponfaith.
In 2021, we began working on our first publication, the Quranic chapter of Joseph. We named our company Uponfaith, an Islamic lifestyle brand aimed at bettering the Muslim experience.
The list of other ideas? We're going for them as well. For us, the photographic Quran series is the starting point in our journey to use our faith to change the world, God-willing.
